Wow. I keep forgetting that there's people like that around. Just shows our tolerance for cultural diversity that we can include bigots racists and bloody minded economic rationalists in our mix and still have a relatively relaxed and accepting society. The majority of Australians are against wrongful treatment of others and don't wish brutal, spiteful, punitive behaviour meted out on those who took great risks looking for a better life.
In the past some were given free transport from the UK. It may well be that descendants of the transportees are well aware of the privilege they have of living in our great southern land and don't want to share with others for any reason. But sharing and welcoming is part of what makes us a great little country. Let's not spoil it because of some mean minded opinionated do-badders. Congrats to SGH for working to protect the rights of the undertrodden and mistreated!
