Morning Domum, Ive enjoyed reading your well researched posts this morning and wonder if you have an opinion on this one!, Either the Nickel market is in the throes of a manipulated selloff or,as the anylists would have us believe way too expensive(?).All the talk is substitution/lower grade stainless etc.As a marine man I can assure you that 200 stainless is NO substitute for 316!,no comparison.As for less critical useage (ie. to prevent rusting of metal in land based applications)yes 200/100 etc has merit.Other substitutes such as"Pig Iron Stainless?" I know next to nothing about. To me the natural way to avoid sky high Stainless prices is to substitute with Galv! especially in construction,medical instruments and all things critical will use the highest grade of metal available as cost of material is small compared to finished product. Be prepared for a paridigm shift over the next few years in the way metals are blended to maximise specifications to individual products
