    What old fashion view are you talking about though? Are you trying to telling us that the incentives weren't there 'back in the days'? I don't think that back in the 60s or 70s they were morally superior, if anything quite the contrary.

    I don't have a problem with their base pay, where we might agree on though is the other perks (Joe Hockey receiving accommodation allowance whilst having a home in Canberra comes to mind - correct me if my recollection is wrong) and above all over generous pensions. Within a year of leaving public life they should lose all benefits, they have enough connections to get a good paying gig.
