SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- General Electric Co. and Financial Times publisher Pearson PLC are in talks about making a joint bid for Dow Jones& Co. that would allow the controlling Bancroft family to avoid selling to Rupert Murdoch and keep a minority interest in the company, according to a media report Sunday.
LONDON (MarketWatch) - U.S. stock market futures advanced on Monday, with renewed takeover speculation surrounding metals giant Alcoa providing fodder for markets that seemed to have got past a brief worry over rising bond yields.
