Your point of view will be influenced by your own situation but as a conventional married couple for 40 years, on the simplest level if I refer to my wife everyone knows that I am referring to my female wife.
I would be annoyed and embarrassed if they assumed that I was gay and had a male partner.
This has been the way of life for conventional married people regardless of their religious commitments, they have a place that is clearly defined in society and in Australia it is the normal way of life
Now the SSM group want to throw all that down the tube for their own benefit without regard for the majority of people, just for their own selfish reasons so of course in so many ways big and small, conventional married couples will be losing part of their identity and will have to change their way of life with different conversations, introductions, paperwork in so many ways it will be extremly difficult especially for those who have been married for a long time and are more senior.
Lets face it the SSM group represent a small proportion of the overall population and yet they want everyone else to change to suit them.
Once again we are talking about the legal and dictionary definition of the word marriage NOT ANY LEGAL MATTERS.
If the laws relating to SSM need to be refined in some way I am fully in favor of that, after all laws need to be ungraded on a regular basis.
But you can't expect the majority of people who have had a stable way of life to change all of that on the whim of a few alternative life style people
Finally all the groups agitating for change would have gone ahead with the plebiscite if they thought that they had a hope in hell of getting it approved, so obviously they already know that the plebiscite will be NO
Scotty Morrison stated on today's TV that Labor was stopping the plebiscite from going ahead !!!!!!!
I must have missed it when it was put to Parliament, Turnbull could have had the bill put to Parliament at any time but he hasn't, as he knows it will fail it's not Labors fault.
