I think if one reads closely what she says that she is a nasty lefty feminist type with an axe to grind against the middle / upper middle classes and with that of course white men. I think that it is that perspective and position which drives her hateful words.
Note too that she continues to ply the myth of the 'rape crisis' on American campuses, as much a piece of Leftist fiction there as it is here.
