I believe a couple of issues have emerged in thread discussion as a result of this announcement that are worth mentioning, particularly relating to the belief that it contains little that would be unexpected.

True, the substantial business growth it describes might not be unexpected for the group represented by e-mail subscribers, recent Sydney meeting attendees, and the devout participants on these AJX treads. But the Company has 4300 ordinary shareholders and many, quite likely a decent majority, would rely solely on ASX announcements for any information on progress, as with other listed companies. It wouldn’t help that those shareholders have not been made aware of the Company’s change of communications strategy via any ASX release. Company e-mail communications are addressed ‘Dear Shareholders’, but clearly they would not reach the broad shareholder base. Subscribers would represent a very small minority, and being a shareholder is not a requirement in any case.

Further, DVH and RB travelled to Sydney specifically to inform local investors of progress and strategy, but beyond the presentation slides no information in any form from that meeting has become available to shareholders other than those that attended. From comments made on AJX threads there does appear to be a general misconception that whatever information forum participants are aware of other shareholders also are equally aware. This can only be assumed for any information released via the ASX.

In any case I don’t believe the announcement was directed at informing local shareholders - institutional or retail. It appears to me to be a considered attempt to promote the Company to potential US investors to ensure that the mid-year NASDAQ listing is successful. A component of NC’s listing management strategy. Information accompanying the mandatory Quarterly and Preliminary reports at the ends of July and August should be too late for this purpose, even if we more informed locals are content to wait until then.
