I completely understand and use tax loss selling when it makes sense to do so. But selling at an increased loss like many do is simply giving away capital that they will not get back. Wait a few days or weeks if you want to offload dog stocks and get tax loss selling done when things are on the up. It's a better result.
Tax loss selling at this time of year is simply selling at a low. Buy high, sell low... winning strategy!
I do know there are genuine reasons for it, but everyone goes into a frenzy to loose money just to partially offset tax.
