If you consider how many CR trade back to the issue price (or lower) is it really a distinguishing feature?
Sure helps....esp when they put the pump on to offload to retail
That's where knowing the rules of the game helps, which is only learnt from experience and getting creamed. Nothing any trader can't learn. If "they" put the pump on, you're either already in and should have a selling strategy at play, or you're not in, in which case I would argue, don't chase. Wait for the next train.
Often get asked about placements and IPOs and the answer is always that they should be icing on the cake. If you can't make money from the market through your own research/strategy, no amount of hot IPOs will save you in the long run.
