I wouldn't get to mathematical about it either.
Been watching vessel movements on MarineTraffic since FAR's drilling campaigns commenced in 2014 with FAN1.
MarineTraffic' tracking recordings have been pretty accurate...e.g See the pic that Whisky posted. Then see the pic that Gus posted. Do you see a difference?? You should if you are not vision impaired.
Point is, the movements shown in Gus' pic is distinctly different from drillship movements we've seen during the previous 6-7 holes that had been drilled.... Distinctly different!!
Don't know the reason for it.
As I say, it could be that the drill string is stuck and they're trying to "wiggle" it loose.
It could also be a case that they are drilling a "sidetrack" which, I'd imagine, will require the drillship to shift it's position in a certain way. Don't know.
Where is FARJOCk!! He has 40 odd years experience... he should know!! Or is it not within his area of oil& gas operations. Maybe Farjock can give some clarity in what area his experience lies so we know which questions can be asked and which not. Make sense??
