The traditional canaloplasty procedure (i.e. the one they purchased from iScience was effective but complicated to do and time consuming). They changed this procedure to ABiC which was much simpler and 24 months data shows this to be effective as well.
According to www.glaucoma-itrack.com, there are 210 clinics performing ABiC. So I think the uptake has been good thus far considering how many sales staff they have on the ground.
I think this is not hype. There are other procedures out there but I have only seen evidence of Glaukos actually selling. Xen45, Cypass have not actually begun selling. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The MIGS market is estimated to grow to 1bn by 2020. There is room for a few MIGS devices to share this market....
