Hydrogen is a wonderful alt. energy proposal - my major theoretical concern is mass storage, as opposed to on-board fuel cell generation.
Hydrogen is the smallest atom, and even when oxidised into H2, still has a tiny footprint.
If you intend to store H2 under pressure, what sort of containment are you looking at? Surely, even the most dense metals in a containment (pressure) vessel will still look like a sieve, as far as Hydrogen gas is concerned?
Surely the only possible answer is on-board H2 generation for immediate use - let's say from mini-nukes or some similar power source.
