Well you have no problem with me because I by chance joined before settlement.

But the point is that every eligible person can receive the payout whether they joined or not.

So you were already diluted the day you signed up, apart from the relatively small amount accruing to registrants only, which could be worth a couple of hundred dollars if you are lucky (or maybe the cost of obtaining an expert opinion) ;-)
