When any govt breaks a major trust as occurred with Howard with WorkChoices and Julia Gillard on the non-mandated carbon tax, centrist voters have no recourse but to show them the door otherwise govt’s could become despotic in nature. Both those people were rightly shown the door because of this and I cannot understand how anyone would disagree, particularly where they claim they are not cemented to one side or other.
Howard suffered the indignity of losing his own seat and Gillard her leadership. Abbott suffered the same fate because he also breached the trust of the people.
If any leader should have a gripe imo it should be Kevin Rudd because he was removed without breaking any key promise and was still relatively popular.
