The practice is a reminder of the old adage that if you keep saying something loud enough and often enough people will believe it. In that vein Howard spoke of 'mainstream' and 'economic competence' while delivering neither. As to what Tony Abbott promised; no-one ever promised so much only to deliver exactly what he promised NOT to do.

The harsh reality is at the 2007 Election even John Howard committed to address global warming whereas the self-serving pugilist he mentored subsequently ran amok and effectively DENIED Australia access to the cutting edge green industries of the future as he yelled at voters; "ME! ME! ME!". Australians affected by ever-increasing electricity prices only have ONE person to blame - the man who destroyed investment in our future!!!!
