After all the bloodletting over the past week I thought I would re-read the last 3 announcements.
From my interpretation of what DW has been aluding to, and it is imho the present state of IW2 was not unexpected.
Some here have thought the connection between the upper and lower  fracked zones was unexpected and a surprise to the JV.  I believe it was not. These guys are experienced, PB and 2 of 88E's board are experienced oilmen.  PB in particular has seen it and done it all before.   The only difference here on the NS is its particular geology however that said the JV will have made allowances for that particular contingency and DW made it clear in his 3 announcements what the plans for IW2 going forward were going to be and that is being carried out now.
As DW said
The stimulation was executed precisely as per plan with over one million lbs of proppant placed into the formation. A little patience is now required as we give the rocks time to show us what they can deliver.”

So now we wait, we may not like it, some will sell others will take Warren Buffet's advice and buy..
