I put a few questions to IR recently. It's the most effective way to get clarification on issues that aren't subject to NDAs. I appreciate their responses, which are below...
Hello Mr xxxxxxxx,
Please find our response to your questions below.
Congratulations on the recent launch of Overpass, and as a long term holder of Syntonic shares, it’s great to see some new developments. I'm based in Australia, and as such I haven't had the opportunity to experience Overpass firsthand. I look forward to SYT launching in Australia... are there plans for this anytime soon?
The response from the Australian investment community on the Freeway Overpass value-proposition has been favorable. Ultimately, the goal is to deploy Overpass across the globe including Australia. However, we don’t have any definitive timelines to share at this time.
I have a query on Overpass. Is it possible for me to view the Overpass Terms and Conditions?
The relevant language is ”Excessive data usage by you while using the Service is not permitted. You may only use devices with factory installed and or approved firmware and OS. Use of any device with user installed firmware or OS (e.g. rooted or jail broken phone) is a violation of this agreement. Syntonic reserves the right to cancel any specific offer or your account in Syntonic’s sole discretion.” Moreover, Syntonic has the right to terminate the service if the user is “deemed by Syntonic to be in conflict with the spirit or intent of the Service.”
I was wondering how SYT would prevent a user of Overpass from continuously downloading a TV series to their phone off Youtube if the cost to SYT of such a lengthy download were going to exceed the income generated from that user.
If the user’s heavy data consumption is not deemed a violation of the ToS, it is possible that Syntonic’s wholesale data costs will exceed the income generate from that user. Offsetting this usage will be consumers who greatly under use the service. Our business model is optimized on the mean usage, which is no different than what is used by insurance companies, gym memberships, etc. which optimize their pricing model on the mean usage not the peak usage.
Are there T and C restraints on download times, or is there a Gb limit per user in place?
Syntonic Overpass provides unlimited data access subject to the Terms of Service. No data limits or throttling is imposed. To accommodate changing consumer data usage, Overpass pricing will be refined over time rather than introducing network constraints---this is really Overpass’ value proposition to consumers.
Also, is there a date set for the next webinar?
The next webinar will be early September.
Many thanks,
