On top of the extremely poor financials of this deal that Donohue has made with SQM, I'd add that if SQM decided to play hardball with KDR they could probably screw them right out of the whole shebang. Firstly, with a 50% stake, KDR will be unable to enact anything without SQM's approval.
If KDR lag behind on any small part of the terms due to financing, SQM will be able to impose extortionate conditions for non-compliance. Again, any lag in production or output can probably attract costs that wouldn't affect a company with long pockets and other ventures like SQM but would hammer an "all in" operation like KDR.
We're going to need to see the terms and conditions of this agreement in excruciating detail very soon and if they're not reassuring then I'm pulling the black and yellow ejector handle and leaving KDR to its fate.
Donohue has to go. Now. Where the hell is the rest of the board? Can't they see this?
