Whether you take your principle off the table should depend on your trading strategy. With specs, I personally, wait for the price to double and then let it ride - taking my principle at the first serious pullback. With MIS I actually tripled my dosh before there was a serious enough pullback for me to offload to free-carry status. MCR and AOE same - made multiples on entry price before taking principle.
If you are confident in the company's prospects then let your profits run, just be ready to act if the market has a spaz attack - mind you, LYC held up very well in the Chinese meltdown last March.
