Only violent people who are a threat to to others should be in prison. Non-violent offenders or people who have committed victimless crimes either should not be punished at all or given a punishment that is appropriate to the crime and duly compensates the victims. But if you are talking about murder, rape, premeditated violence etc then fair enough.

Thought this thread was about.... "Australia our judges are soft on violent gangs they give them a slap on the wrists and are soon back on the streets. These foreign countries know the only sure way to stop violent scum from re-offending"
