Well, thank you for apology although I am uncertain why I received it. After all, we all have different ideas about all kinds of thing, including this one, about which we are not all fully informed and won't be until the court case.
I can't see how the guy's behaviour was appropriate towards another person whether that other person be young woman, middle-aged woman, old woman, young man, middle-aged man, or elderly man. (Did I leave anyone out? If so, them too.) Nor do I see it appropriate for a woman whether she be young, middle-aged or elderly to inflame a fight with another, whether that be a young man, a middle-aged man, or an elderly man. Nor do I see it appropriate for a man whether he be a young, middle-aged or elderly to inflame a fight with another, whether that be a young man, a middle aged...........etc. I could type on and exhaust all possibilities of the variables possible........but I would tire the reader before tiring myself typing out all this, and I am respecting my readers.
On this thread, there appears to be a dirth of female posters. I have been reading, because I have anticipated the use of the word "misogony" and it has only just appeared in a very specific context.
Soon after this "road rage" incident, the media gives us another. It involved 4 young men. One car had blocked the left turning lane and another two in the blocked lane decided to hop out of their vehicles and give the two doing the blocking, a bit of a punch up. Sometimes one gets into a left or go ahead lane inadvertently. I have felt bad when I see the driver behind me with a left turn light flashing (in the case of me wanting to go straight on). It must happen every day 1,000 times without resulting in a punch-up. One of the young guys was quick to apologise to police.
I wonder why the term "road rage" was ever introduced into our lexicon. It almost legitimises it. It should be called for what it is which is thuggery or disgusting behaviour (whether perpetrated by old, middle-aged, or elderly male/female). When people attempt to respond with lack of respect for another, then they turn that into a free-for-all fight. There can't be a fight without at least two people being involved. Personally, I apologise if I have blocked someone, or without knowing it, steal their parking spot (yes, did this once, without even seeing the car waiting, another car moved out in front of me and I hopped in). There was an angry man who got out of his car and yelled at me. Despite telling him, I had not seen him waiting, he continued to rant and rave at me.
These are sad times we live in. Neither person in a fight whether physical or verbal feels good afterwards. Nobody. Each person still believes themselves to be right and the other person to be wrong. And whether you inflict the biggest black eye or the smaller one, it still doesn't make you right.
Thus ends my lecture for today.
Ravishankaray - kind regards to you, but reckon your first idea of nicking off from here was a good one. It is mine as well although I can't ignore someone making an apology because I like people who can do this - it is gracious of barney, and I need to acknowledge that. Farewell, folks.
