I have little time for the average scientists opinion. But I do sit up and take notice when the former CEO of BP Australia believes it's not even worth questioning the global warming theory. It is also the same view as that of Jeremy Grantham, who is principal of one of the largest and most successful funds in the world with $120bn under management. These are people for whom a) integrity is important and b) by virtue of the nature of their jobs, what they do and say is accurate and correct. In Grantham's case you don't entrust your life savings to someone who makes bold statements and gets it catastrophically wrong (Grantham thinks it's ridiculous to even be uncertain about global warming). You don't give them money if there's even a faint scent that they have an agenda of their own.

On the actual show itself, I watched it and thought it was a pity the moderator didn't at least try to be impartial. The debate went nowhere. The audience was also terrible. What kind of question was that from the last audience member? "Do you think the Earth is overpopulated? So you think having more people on Earth is good?" Even the episode of Insight where the entire audience were kids and teenagers had more measured and fair responses.
