How about just sell the heartwood. There is still a lot from past years' harvest and now this year's harvest as well. Surely this has to be an obvious necessary step in the process. If they can sell it at a good price, that will give them a good portion of the cash they need and reassure the debt holders/investors that there is something here worth fighting for. Then everything will fall into place - if they can sell it.
