They COULD (good reason to shout could) be on the brink of some market sensitive news that they are not in a position to release yet. Could be a fund raise or bad news such as product failure or good news such as a massive sale.
Trading halts come at the least expected times. They are put in place to give everyone a chance to digest news.
I have no reason to suspect any of the above. My hunch is that it, the quarterly, is delayed until the death hoping for possible good news in the way of a reasonable order.
