Interesting I wounder how they are going to clean up power plants. In US if you go to DOE and look at pollution to deliver a KWH to the charger and the pollution burning one gallon of gas in a modern engine the power plant is worse. ( primarly because US still uses allot of Coal. Which DT loves) If you subtract out taxes from Both Gas and electric It actual is a lower operating cost for GAS. For electric do not use KWH supplied to the motor which is what all EV manufactures do use electric supplied to charger. I have a friend that owns a Tesla S. He was shocked by electric bill. Started tracking electric used by charger, found electric was costing him the equivalent of 25 MPG. Still he loved that car. In summer he could get to work on about 50% of a charge. At work he could charge for about the same price as home electric. Then during a cold snap batteries quite 8 miles from work. Simple reason diminish capacity in cold. Heater to keep batteries warm so they would work at all and heat for him drained what little was left.
He was stuck on highway in -10F till a cruiser picked him up. Two other EV owners were in cruiser.
Car was sold soon after.
Hybrids work. EVs still do not meet claims when you do the math. I own a small solar installation company All my electric is free. I was going to add panels to support a EV for my wife. Even with rebates on car, Panels and whole sale cost for solar It did not make sense to buy the car and panels.
I am happy there are early users of EVs but until cycle efficiency of batteries improve and the power grid has a source of cleaner cheaper electric power they just do not deliver what they claim.
