Australian investors, by and large, are not comfortable investing in the riskier stocks and have been spoilt with returns from Banks and Real Estate. There is a palpable fear of risk and the priority 'to protect ones capital' overrides all other aspects of investing. Compared to the USA we have few entrepreneurs and interestingly Australian brands are almost invisible outside Australia.
Concerning Mesoblast, few investors have any awareness as to what is required to successfully develop such a new technology, paradigm shifting Company. So investors are impatient, nervous and skittish not helped by the naysayers who probably understand little of the science and technology but for some unfathomable reason take delight in adding to the ubiquitous anxiety. These sad unfortunates are not interested, it would seem, in the extraordinary potential Mesoblast has to improve the health of countless people.

"I thought Aussies were all drunken and happy?" - Clearly there are exceptions.
