Yes Meteor . They are installing clean coal plants . That's point , they are installing cleaner power stations than they might have otherwise . That's one of the reasons that they want to import Australian coal . It burns cleaner . India has heaps of coal but it is not as good as ours .
Unfortunately renewables are just not good enough at he moment for large 24/7 baseload supply . That's why these emerging economies need coal and gas . But , even those fuels are cleaner than previous stuff . And , renewables can be used now for peaking so that they can help make the cfps cleaner . That means that while we need coal , we will burn less of it because it is assisted by renewables .
We need fossil for decades yet but as we transfer from one technology to the other we can progressively wean ourselves off it .
