Farewell and Bon voyage Stena, it's been a fabulous six month together but it's time for you to go now , if you haven't already, thanks for the memories and perhaps we'll meet again sometime..

What an amazing rig its been, the first well was spudded on 23 Jan and now almost 200 days later it has completed 5 wells safely, under budget and ahead of schedule...that's an average of 40 days per well and that includes two that were tested , one in deeper water and one that was extended..with SNE N 1 the rig arrived on site on the 17 july and had drilled , logged and done some extra testing by the 7 Aug , 21 days later!!!

It took the Athena 160 days to drill 3 wells of which two were tested and none in deeper water, so 80 days per well which is twice the time the Stena took.

The Cajun Express took about 270 days to drill 2 wells neither which were tested!!

So the Stena was about twice as fast and cost almost half as much per day as the Athena , if we put that into rig hire only costs, on average that's $US 7.8 Mil per well for Stena vs $US 30 Mil for the Athena..that's huge ... it's hardly worth even thinking about the Cajun non express it's too painfull..

    Cheers Whisky
