Nuclear power is fine but the reactors should be built in a large remote isolated area just to be on the safe side.
Nuclear waste disposal beneath some remote desert should never cause any problems either if done efficiently.
However I don't see any need for nuclear power generation in Australia as we have abundant coal, solar and wind energy sources which are cheaper.
