OK, here's another theory for you...
The big fundies have realised that an impending USD decline and likelihood of a japan rate rise is almost a given, and are trying to offload their equities. They are making each downstroke slightly more violent, but following it with a fairly strong upwards move, that doesn't quite retrace the losses, but gives enough people reason to buy into dips. Then whilst this is all happening they are offloading their stock a bit at a time. ie: selling 1 million stocks one day, and then buying 500,000 the next day.
Once smaller funds and individual investors get used to it, they buy on dips, and then one day - POOOF - the instos and fundies decide not to buy their 500,000 shares, and the stock declines, along with mums, dads, and little funds.
