The most useful defences are fair comment or honest opinion, the comment must be fair or the opinion honest, useful if it is based on evidence and a matter of public interest. The negative publicity generated by the company launching a defamation action against a small share holder would not be in the interests of the company or the SP. It's highly unlikely.
