Ok so the talk circulating is that Axiom may have to retender for its mining licences. Does anyone really think that is going to happen ??? I don't think so !!!!
What company in its right mind would entertain the thought of putting themselves through what Axiom and SMM have experienced in dealing with a totally incompetent and morally corrupt SI Govt.
Anyone that has followed Axiom's travails will understand that a newcomer would have to most importantly win the support, trust and confidence of the various landowners and also Govt. - not going to happen overnight or realistically within a year or 2. Then there is the matter of drill testing. Does anyone really think Axiom is just going to hand the results for Kolosori and San Jorge over to an incumbent ??? Then there is the process of applying for re-applying for mining licences again. Way too much capital to invest for an uncertain outcome.
And let's not forget Glencore walked away from West Guadocanal with a directive from HO never to reinvest in the South Pacific Islands. Don't think Rio is welcome back after Bougaville and probably not on BHP's radar so who is left ???
My personal view - there won't be any new tender because there won't be any third party interest. There is only one miner in the running. Unfortunately we are being made to wait and burn our remaining cash.
One final point - There is also the risk for the SI govt that Axiom will rightfully sue for being advised or misled they had been awarded this project only to invest millions of our money to prove up these reserves. No doubt a situation the SI Govt don't want to risk in regards further damaging their fragile reputation.
Rest my case.
