@binwood
I basically got blocked from discussing this subject on the AVZ forum and it's to complicated to answer properly on these forums but the DRC is "not" Africa. Here is a link to a thread I started which details the forces involved in keeping the peace in the DRC (that got moved from the AVZ forum to the World Events forum for some unknown reason). I guess they didn't like to examine the risk side of their investment.

You ask.
Why would they be scared of Africa?
Just Google news about the DRC. It is one of the most brutal places in the world and a blight on humanity IMO. 27 anti-government protestors got killed there just a week ago, the brutality is terrible. Why be scared? Because you can be hacked to death.
Mali is not the DRC, it is not governed by succession of brutal and corrupt dictators that seized power at the point of a gun.
Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta has a resume that includes a high level of education and he is a stabilising influence on Africa. He even travelled to Burkina Faso on Tuesday after the attacks there to call for unity on terror, which is one of the problem he faces in Mali. Esh
