I think expecting anyone in Gov to have the ability to recognise a veiled threat would be giving them too much credit. They wouldn't pick it if it were wearing a hoodie and carrying a Crocodile Dundee size knife in one hand and a long neck in the other.

I honestly don't know how TNG could expect that refinery to get an easy pass through. Won't happen. On a waterway. Shared with food producers and close proximity to a population. Having to account for one in 30 year size cyclones.... It's going to be monumentally tough.

I recall reading a few informed posters having a very negative outlook on Malaysia due to other circumstances - corruption etc.

This thing is crying out to be put in South Australia. No monsoons stuffing production almost every year, no cyclones doing same. Surely an easier passage to passing Enviro Assessment due to that. We'd just need to get the NAIF funding from somewhere else. Ask the SA Gov to match it somehow??
