The way around this matter is for the High Court to take not a narrow but a broad view of S 44 of The Constitution. Clearly at the time of the writing and then the Proclamation of The Constitution, the term ' a foreign power ' meant a power not related to us by imperial links. Britain, NZ, Canada and other related nations were naturally not considered foreign powers. That is the way the matter should be dealt with.

It is absurd that those with a British Passport or an NZ Passport or a Canadian Passport or even an entitlement to one, all of those circumstances embracing so many good Australians, should be caught up in this. And absurd and alarming too that so much of our Parliament's valuable time is being spent in this truly wasteful fashion.
