Paladin Resources Limited (PDN) has reduced its uranium production guidance at its Langer Heinrich project in Namibia for FY08 to 2.2 million pounds, down from its previous target of 2.6 million pounds. The uranium miner said that production at 30 June of 119,586 pounds was below the 200,000 pounds expected for the period as a result of a dryer problem in late June. However, Paladin advised that July production has demonstrated considerable improvement and Paladin now expects to achieve a production rate of 2.6 million from January 2008. The company said that management’s focus is now on improving efficiencies and recoveries in the process plant. The group advised that overall the operational performance of Langer Heinrich has improved significantly during the past 4 weeks and management is confident this improvement in performance will continue.

The focus of the operations team will be the continual improvements of all aspects of the mine and plant facilities to achieve design parameters and deliver uranium concentrate as projected in the 2007/2008 plan with an output of 2.6Mlb U3O8.
