Earthquake predicting is the most difficult of sciences and it would be hard to get many experts who could agree on a major event within 100 years.
I am not sure if the harbourmaster is a recognised earthquake authority.
I think a major earthquake in Wellington or other parts of the Alpine Fault would effect most NZ BRL shareholders far worse than having the Otira line out for repairs.
Maybe this question can be raised at the December AGM regarding contingency plans, insurance and force majeure.
