My understanding that any serious hot rocks electricity generation is still a decade away. Also the power requirements from Olympic Dam are going to be astronomical. I believe they are thinking in terms of taking all the electricity made available.
Agreed that SXP coal may not be the best available but the csg already discovered alone (forget the oil and coal) makes their market cap look extremely low. Weedina report will be out within weeks and those figures are expected to be reviewed upwards again.
There is little doubt that this basin is rich in energy resources however its remoteness once made it uneconomical to exploit. But rising energy costs, the coming of age of csg, large operations like Olympic dam all add up to SXP being worth huge $$$$$. Don't know why someone didn't think of it sooner.
