I've missed where the 'mud' story started, so will suppose the volume of talk around it stamps its validity. It'd be nice to know how much mud is being asked for, to be able to get some determination of pore pressures.

"Mud weight and pore pressure

The mud weight needed to control a well reflects pore pressure of any permeable formations drilled. To control a well, operators generally use a mud weight that will exert a pressure close to the expected pore pressure. When drilling mud kicks or blows out, the pressure from the mud is less than, but usually close to, pore pressure.
Calculating pressure from mud weight

When the drilling mud kicks or blows out, pore pressure can be calculated by using the following formula:

For example, if a 7500-ft-deep hole contains mud with a weight of 10.5 ppg, then the pore pressure at the bottom of the hole is 4095 psi or more..."

Entirely out of my depth advancing or contributing to discussion here (but reading it all, and trying very very hard to understand).

Really, at this point in time just maintaining faith in the team to tweak their way to our success.

The mud story came from the discovery of 3 similar permits (consecutive nos I think) on LSE chat site.

I suppose if they have over pressure and the ''vapour phase'' is bubbling through, then mud glorious mud may be needed.

I am sure it is not to plug the well as cement tends to be used for that purpose.

For me, why have an ANN for fine tuning if the mud is to plug. The fine tuning could be because of over pressure on the Vapour phase.

Unfortunately not enough info on the permits to calculate anything useful ie volume or mud weight.
On the pore pressure we have info, 40% above hydrostatic originally, but then later discovered during the wireline testing of IW2v to be higher by an unspecified amount

I would take this info as relating to the drilling process, rather than any application in flow testing
