club sharer this is the point where I reveal myself as a peter costello fan. history may show him to be this country's best ever treasurer. Interest rate policy is soooooo important and he seems to have gotten it 100% spot on. Yes we had a real estate boom when our rates were 5% but at that time the yanks rates were 1%. That was far too low. And now they are paying for it. It's a tightrope is interest rates. You have to balance stock markets, real estate markets, consumer spending and inflation. Not an easy thing to get right.
