Absolutely can't keep anything secret in the southern parts of Africa. Especially if $$ and foreigners are involved!!

There are a couple more things I've picked up which I think are of interest:

1. On 11 July Marius Kloppers announced his new team at BHP. The key point for us was that Alberto Calderon was promoted from Diamonds and Speciality Products to Chief Commerical Officer. He now takes responsibility for marketing, business development and strategy, exploration and TECHNOLOGY. He's also the country head for UK, Russia, China and India. BIG promotion, important portfolio - very forward looking. Corridor Sands comes under Diamonds and Speciality Products. It would've been Calderon who sponsored/approved the recent 5 million dollar funding. And it looks like he's keeping a finger in our pie in his new job, viz TECHNOLOGY. Certainly stream-lines the reporting/approval process...


2. Cuddon, I think, was sent to Chibuto because of his local knowledge. From his background he's a process/program guy not projects, but heaps of local knowledge from Mozal and SA. So why do you send someone in like that? And send them in early? May be part of the answer lies in the following link?
