Really. Homelessness has increased in a pocket of bush near Wivenhoe dam. Far more people living in cars. A friend got chatting to one middle aged couple, husband quite sick, on disability payments, kicked out of their accommodation because they'd brought to the attention of the authorities the screams coming from the child care centre next door which they thought verged on abuse - the centre got their landlord to kick them out. Couldn't get a new rental, as they didn't have a rental record (landlord unco-operative). So my mate suggested they come and camp at his place for a few weeks, paying the rent straight into his bank. So after six to eight weeks they had a payment record and bingo, got a new place (he refunded all the rent so they had the bond).

So yes, really, there are, and more of them.
