    Chris and Zmemed,

    These are the same State Governments who seem vehemently opposed to building any new dams.

    The debate concerning population growth and immigration intake is an interesting one particularly given the debates of earldier this year on this forum.

    In previous posts, I have favoured an increase in immigration. I have also flagged that our population growth rate is trending up, not down, as some would otherwise have it.

    I have also posted commentary concerning the current levels of population growth, including:
    1)
    up 250K in 2001/2, including up 65.1K in NSW, 67.8K in Victoria, and 78.2K in Queensland;
    2)
    AUSTRALIAN characteristics comprising natural increase of +116K, net overseas migration of +134K, and net interstate migration of -0K (= net of +250K);
    3)
    NSW characteristics comprising natural increase of +38K, net overseas migration of +51K, and net interstate migration of -24K (= net of +65K);
    4)
    VIC characteristics comprising natural increase of +27K, net overseas migration of +34K, and net interstate migration of +6K (= net of +67K);
    5)
    QLD characteristics comprising natural increase of +24K, net overseas migration of +25K, and net interstate migration of +29K (= net of +78K);
    6)
    SA characteristics comprising natural increase of +6K, net overseas migration of +5K, and net interstate migration of -2K (= net of +9);
    7)

    8)
