    Ventracor is an international medical device company focused on commercialising the world’s leading ‘artificial heart’ device, the VentrAssist™ Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The VentrAssist™ is a new third generation implantable heart device primarily designed as an alternative to heart transplantation for people with cardiac failure.     Due to company growth, a vacancy exists for a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Electrical Engineer to join the R&D Operations team, reporting directly to the Operations Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated record of analytical and problem solving expertise over several years, outstanding attention to detail and intelligent diagnosis skills.

    Key Objective:
    To assists R&D (and other Ventracor departments) resolve deployed product issues of a product design nature, incl. development, test, verification and validation of electrical systems for Ventracor’s Medical Devices.

    Responsibilities & Accountability:
    Maintaining and improving (where required) the design of, and equipment used with deployed products;
    Testing and de-bugging of electronic circuits and equipment – relating to Manufacturing and Field derived product issues;
    Assist R&D with design, verification and validation activities to accelerate closure of design changes;
    Produce design and development test and verification protocols;
    Component sourcing and specification;
    Basic software development for demonstration and verification purposes;
    Direction and management of external testing and compliance. I.E. safety and EMC testing;
    Provide team and technical leadership within tight regulatory frameworks (FDA, TGA etc.);
    Ensuring relevant standards are met;
    Seamless liaison and technical support for mechanical and software engineering groups;
    Maintaining records and documentation as per Ventracor’s Quality Management System;
    Other work as directed by the Operations Engineering Manager (or delegate).


    Skills & Experience
    Minimum 7 years experience;
    Experience with electronic devices in medical applications;
    Ability to design produce electronic schematics diagrams, descriptions and test procedures;
    Knowledge of embedded digital and analogue electronic circuit design for precision control;
    Experienced at testing electronic circuits and test equipment
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Protel schematic capture and PCB design
    Documentation skills for medical product development – full understanding of DHF and DMR
    Safety compliance to IEC60601-1 and EMC to IEC60601-1-2
    Working knowledge of Protel and Microsoft Office Suite incl. Database
    Biomedical Experience, or experience within a heavily regulated industry would be highly advantageous.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
