You made a good point about the increase of the value of hard assets relative to $US.

I have just looked up Stainlesssteel.com which had a forecast made on 7 August by Citigroup for teh average Ni price of $18.14 for 2007, $10 for 2008, $8 for 2009 and $6 for 2010. The site has some more encouraging forecasts made earlier by others; see

As monark has noted, a recession would be negative for Ni.

You said you use the forward curve to give you guidance about the Ni price. Where can I find details about this?
