You're right I'm new to the game of share trading and VRE scared the living out of me (but it wasn't 1 cent it went from 0.077 to 0.068 if memory serves me correctly).
I'm not new to property though and my head still hurts from all the reading about property. I will state again that what I'm talking about when I talk about the safety of property investment is your standard home in your standard suburb.
Now in Melbourne you may look at say Mulgrave, or Sunshine, or Doncaster etc. In those suburbs you would not look at the top end over capitalised houses but rather the nondescript 3br or even 2br BV.
These properties will not drop in the % you're talking about and NEVER HAVE in this country. You can talk all you like about Hong Kong or wherever but this is a different country with a stability that is at the heart of what keeps me sleeping at night.
