    The situation is that housing prices in many parts of the world have fallen up to 50% within a year or two. For example Finland, Britain and the rust belt of the USA. These are all places that have fixed or declining populations.

    Australia is protected, with the exception of Tasmania and Canberra under Liberal governments, because populations do not fall. This is due to immigration.

    For that reason the chance of a significant fall in house prices is not very great, though they can stay flat or decline slightly for as long as 4 years.
