i have been in Toyko for more than 15 years...i speak japanese and i know how bad things are here. Foreigners can buy real estate but as Ross said the banks won`t lend you the money. You need to have permanent residence and be an owner occupier. japan unlike western nations doesnt have the immigrants and population growth to support a better property market....avoid buying property unless u are going to be here forever IMO The Nikkei is a better bet unless the yen goes beserk cheers
