Not surprising when you like ok at Irma and the rest of the weather hitting GOM.
I've just looked at an interesting map showing storm paths. I apologise for not being able to paste it in but the source is Accuweather. It basically shows that NW African Atlantic rim is a calm area, with all the weather heading Westward.
People have talked about SNE as the other side of the continental cleavage with the GOM. Well, in one respect the African side got lucky.
