"Let's face it most of our laws are made by lawyers in the Federal and State
Parliaments."
I wouldn't say most of our laws are made by lawyers. You will find that most of the underlying spirit of our laws were based on values, either social or political, and the public servants drafted (or put in writings to capture the spirit of the intended legislation) the laws and presented to parliament by the relevant minister.
Nearly all our transactions and dealings in life have to comply with the law, and obviously lawyers play a significant part in any litigation where there are disputes.
